Song Yang Yin Hou (Silver Monkey) Green Tea

Song Yang Ying Hou Tea (literally as Silver Monkey Tea) is a green tea originally produced in Song Yang County in ZheJiang Province of China. Silver Monkey tea is curly, more tips, like monkey claw, hence got its name.

Silver Monkey tea is grown in the upstream area of Ou River, which is surrounded by hills, ridges winding, fog Piaomiao, streams criss-cross, mild climate, the average annual temperature is 17.7 °C around, frost-free period is about 240 days, 1511 mm annual rainfall, deep and fertile soilsoil, all these provide a unique ecological environment for the plantation and growing of silver monkey tea.

It’s really a time consuming work as 70,000 shoots can only produce one kilo dry tea leaves. The best picking time is before Chinese Ching Ming Festival and ends before Guyu. The picking standard is one bud with 1-2 tender leaves. The tea making procedures are so complicated that just few tea masters with many-year rich expeirence can be competent. SongYang YingHou tea is flowery and slightly nutty in flavor.
